Immediately following graduation in 1964, Gerry and Bill Soller joined me for a multi day canoe trip beginning in Lower Saranac Lake (in the Adirondacks) , through Middle Saranac Lake, through Upper Saranac Lake and on to Fish Creek State Park where each campsite is waterfront (this time of year it would be ice front). After a few days of camping we paddled back to where we started. I don't think Gerry or Bill had ever done anything like this and may never have again. On the first day the waves got big and Gerry was riding in the middle with Bill in the bow and I was in the stern. All of a sudden I heard Gerry singing, "I don't care if it snows or freezes as long as I got my plastice Jesus." I guess Gerry was stressed. It did get better. I thoroughly enjoyed his company.
